Why Are We Here?

The group of believers that I most frequently gather with is in the midst of contemplating this rather (not so) simple question.

“Why are we here?”

What is our purpose, …our calling?

What about individually? What keeps us where we are at, doing what we are doing?

I’m looking forward to the discussion that we will be having about this very thing this coming weekend.

In the meantime, all that I can say is that I am here (and I hope that we are here) to be all that the Lord desires us to be, and to not only be satisfied with the things that I (or we) feel comfortable with.

How about you?

Why are you where you are at?

What does that mean to you?

At the risk of sounding all too simplistic, I would have to say that I am where I am because I’m too lazy to be anywhere else. Although God is working in spite of me, I think He could lift me higher if I would only cooperate.

All in all, I believe we are here solely for His purposes and His Name’s Sake – so that Jesus will be glorified in our lives and the world will see His glory in us and be drawn to Him. Jesus, being the Tree of Life would produce His (life-giving) fruit through us to give to a hungry world……………….

    Yeah, I know, simplistic.

(He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has Eternal Life.)

    Simple is good!!!

I think that what you have said here sums it up quite well, in fact.

After the meeting, I plan on posting ‘highlights’ from what everyone has to share, as well as my own ramblings on the matter.

For now I will say “To live unto God” will probably be the ‘theme’.

Co-operation always seems to be the rub, doesn’t it?
I thank God for His daily, fresh mercies and for the fact that He is a much more understanding and patient Person than I have ever been.

But I suppose that is why we are counted as ‘dead unto sin’ but ‘alive unto God’ in Christ Jesus, eh?

    Praise the lord.
He has been made, and continues to be made, and will be made, unto us, all that we are meant to be unto him, as we continue to walk, step by step, one day at a time, moment by moment, after His precious Life giving Spirit…
A Spirit which we recieved upon our hearing the good news of Jesus the Christ and His death for our sins and His resurrection for our Life.

Wow! I love that! Well and beautifully said.
